Will the AI photos look like me?
Usually, yes: every creation is made from the photo you add, and the styles aim to keep the person recognisable. How close the likeness is depends mostly on that photo and on how much you ask to change. No model gets every face right every time, so if a result drifts, try a clearer photo or a different model.
What decides the likeness
- The photo: a sharp, well-lit face looking roughly at the camera gives the model the most to keep.
- How much you change: asking for a different age, hair colour or face shape moves the result away from you.
- The size of your face in the result: in a wide scene the face is small and harder to keep exact.
- The model: some models are stronger than others at keeping a face consistent.
Models that help with likeness
In the Image tab, Google's Nano Banana Pro, Nano Banana 2 and Nano Banana 2.1 are built to keep the same person consistent while the scene changes, and ByteDance's Seedream 4.5 gives natural, photographic portraits. See the best model for portraits.
If the face drifts
- Try a different, clearer photo before changing anything else.
- In your own prompt, say what must stay the same, for example "keep my face, hair and skin tone exactly as in the photo".
- Change one thing at a time when you refine a result.
- Try the same idea on another model.
