Is my photo uploaded?
No. The file is read by your browser and processed on your device; nothing is uploaded to a server, so there is nothing for us to keep.
Does removing the location lower the quality?
No. The photo is not redrawn or re-compressed: the tool deletes the location entries inside the file and leaves the picture data untouched, so the copy looks identical and is the same size.
What else is kept?
The date and time, the camera and lens, the orientation and the editing details stay. If you want every piece of metadata gone, use the free metadata remover instead.
Which location fields are removed?
The GPS coordinates, altitude and direction in the EXIF data, plus location fields that editing apps write elsewhere in the file, such as the city and country in XMP and IPTC.
How do I stop my phone saving the location?
On iPhone, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Camera and choose Never. On Android, open the Camera app's settings and turn off the location tag (often called Location tags or Save location). New photos will then have no location.
